Original Research
For the fall semester, everyone chose a given topic that would eventually lead into their thesis. The goal of the course was to do a deep dive into our given topics, dividing research and work into three parts: Past, Present, and Future.
U.S.S. Cyclops

Flight 19
The Somerton Man

Bella and the Witch Elm
D.B. Cooper

Roswell
Flannan Lighthouse

The Past
The first set of images I went with are all famous unsolved cases from around the world. I wanted to go with events that have been thoroughly investigated but are still missing key pieces of the story. To represent this visually, I took images of locations/vehicles/items and omitted sections based on what information was unknown in each case. For example: for the disappearance of D.B. Cooper I included a picture of the kind of plane that was hijacked. The "void" in this case was placed below the airplane because nothing is known about what happened after he jumped from the aircraft.
The Present
In a shift from the past, I decided to focus on true crime and the different perspectives towards the topic. As of right now, there's an increased popularity and interest in true crime podcasts, shows, documentaries and related cinema. I decided to create something similar to an infographic, including quotes and data on serial killers and disappearances, but it certainly doesn't read like one. Staying true to my topic I decided to make it something to decipher, for the information to be something to "solve".
